Seit 1991 werden von der PRC unregelmäßig Sonderpandas ausgegeben, die zumeist einzelne Ereignisse bzw. Institutionen würdigen (Messen, Banken, etc.). Diese Goldmünzen werden in vergleichsweiße geringer Stückzahl geprägt und verfügen häufig über ein Echtheitszertifikat (COA) sowie ein Münzetui. Von den gewöhnlichen Gold Pandas unterscheiden sich die Sonderausgaben zumeist durch zusätzliche Schriftzeichen bzw. Inschriften. Die aufgeführten Münzen werden mit Sammleraufschlägen gehandelt und sind nur selten anzutreffen.

Seit 1983 wird die Silber- u. Goldausgabe des China Pandas in Kleinstauflage ohne Nennwert (!) geprägt. Diese Münzen sind sehr selten anzutreffende Originale und gelangen nicht in die offizielle Ausgabe, sondern werden von der chinesischen Regierung als Gastgeschenke an hochrangige Personen aus der Wirtschaft/Politik vergeben.
